Online Course: Colloid Chemistry and Colloidal Dispersions

12-14 May

This 3-day intensive course, originally planned to be held onsite and now available as an online course, provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental and practical aspects of colloid chemistry and colloidal dispersions. The course is focused on particles that are dispersed in liquids. Nearby topics, such as surfactant chemistry, polymers in solution, emulsions and foams are also covered to some degree in order to make the course complete on a stand-alone basis.

“It was very intense but we got a good overview of the field”*
“The information in the handouts is clear and really easy to follow!” *

Symposium: Unlocking the innovation potential of formulated products: Dos, don’ts, tools and current trends

16 September

During this 1-day symposium experts from RISE and industry will discuss and showcase strategies and approaches to deal with development issues around key base technologies (e.g. microencapsulation systems, powder formulations, emulsions, foams, nanoparticle-containing formulations) as well as relevant development tools in the context of current market trends such circularity and digitalisation. The day targets industrialists, product developers, engineers, scientists and problem owners working in/for the formulated products and advanced materials industries (i.e. pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetics, foods, agrochemicals, paints, coatings and inks, adhesives and composites).

Surface Analysis and Characterization – an Instrument Workshop

16 September

This one-day workshop attendees will have the opportunity to get acquainted with a range of different surface analysis and characterization techniques. During stops in the laboratories of RISE you will get concise information from our specialists and see the instruments. At the end of the day you will have acquired a better understanding of how results from these techniques can be used by your company/organization in research, product and process development and troubleshooting. This workshop is intended for engineers, laboratory personnel and scientists working with research, development or quality control of products for which surface or interfacial properties have a major impact on product performance.

” I got a good overview of the different available techniques. The information was presented in a way that made it easy to assess if the technique could be useful in my work.”
“ The hand-out material is very well-prepared. I specially appreciate that it contains many good application examples! ”

Course: Emulsion Formulation Technology

20-21 October

This biennial, 2-day course covers fundamental and practical aspects of the formulation of emulsions with surfactants, macromolecules and particles. The course aims at providing an overview of the combined effect of physicochemistry, composition and emulsification protocols on the stability and properties of emulsified systems. 75% of the participants in 2018 rated this course as excellent; 25% as good.

“I will recommend it my colleagues!”
“A great journey through a broad range of formulation topics that inspires new ideas!”
